TRAVEL TIP

Korea’s autumn harvest festival (known as Cheosok, Golden Week, and Korean Thanksgiving) will fall on September 24-27 in 2026. This is an auspicious and delicious time to be in the country but you should consider the following:

  • Many local businesses will close on September 25 however businesses in tourist areas will largely remain open.

  • Make dinner reservations in advance or plan to eat at your hotel or in a tourist area on that day.

  • The National Folk Museum and Namsangol Hanok Village customarily offer activities during Golden Week.

  • Try to avoid intercity travel on the 24th and 27th.

  • Seoul will empty out for the weekend and you can explore this usually crowded city at a relaxed pace.
